Let y represent oxygen
H2SO4 = O
1 x2 + 6 + y4=0
2+6+y4=0
8+y4=0
Y4=-8

Does it mean that the oxidation number of sulphur is 6,how??
K shell contains-2atoms
L Shel contains- 8atoms
M shell contains- 6 atoms making it sum of 16 which is the atomic number of sulphur....I thought the oxidation number supposed to be wat to add to the last number to M shell to fiil it up which is 8 atoms...and 2 should be added to 6 to make it 8..so the oxidation state should be -2...pls clear my confusion if am wrong...thank you🤝
