Let the tens digit be x
Let the unit digit be y
From the first sentence, 2y-3x =2 _________eqn (1)
Let the number be 10x+y
Then the reverse number is 10y+x.
Therefore, from the second sentence,
2(10x+y) -(10y+x) =20
I.e. 20x+2y-10y-x =20
I.e. 19x-8y =20
I.e. -8y+19x =20-------------------- eqn (2)
Solving the equations simultaneously,
Eqn(1) X 8 : 16y-24x =16 ------------eqn (3)
Eqn(2) X 2 : -16y+38x =40 ------------eqn (4)
Eqn(3) +Eqn(4), we have,
14x = 56
x = 4.
Substituting for x in eqn(1), we have,
2y-12 =2
I.e. 2y = 14
I.e. y = 7
Therefore the number is 47.
Correct answer is D

Pls can you explain why you multiplied eqn 1 with 8 and multiplied eqn 2 with 2.
Thank you
