Wonderful Ntuk
It’s 100 not -100

The question is not correct... The second length is supposed to be more than the first... Linear expansivity.... It must expand....
Seriously, dont confuse us with this

I'm confused 😕
Ola yemi
This step is incorrect....the formula said L2-L1 not L1-L2
Emmanuel
Please try to solve step by step and break it down e en more for better understanding please

It is 100°c not -100°c

From the formula given above
L²-L1? How was it possible to Subtract from the length 1 instead of 2?

The person 🧍 who solved it made a mistake. L1 should be subtracted from L2 and when this is done you have a negative answer (-0.6). Just follow the steps you think is right using that same formula, you'll still arrive at the same answer. Thanks 🙌!

I also observed this
Doctor Strange
L\(_1\) = 100cm, T\(_1\) = 200\(^o\)C
L\(_2\) = 99.4cm,T\(_2\) = ?
\(\alpha\) = 2 x 10\(^{-5}\)C\(^{-1}\)
\(\alpha\) = \(\frac{L_2 - L_1}{L_1(T_2 - T_1)}\)
2 x 10\(^{-5} = \frac{100- 99.4}{100(200 - T_2)} = \frac{0.6}{100(200 - T_2)}\)
2 x 10\(^{-5}\) x \(100(200 - T_2) = 0.6\)
\(200 - T_2 = \frac{0.6}{0.002} = 300^oC\)
\(T_2 = 200 - 300 = -100^oC\)

Sir, please solve the question accordingly following the formula exactly. This your solving is confusing more especially to mediocre ones. Thank you!
