Turgidity is defined as a condition when a cell absorbs Water molecules and become swollen. When a Plant cell absorbs enough water it becomes swollen and it begins to stretch the cell. The thickness and the rigidness of the plant cell wall prevents the pressure of the absorbed water from bursting the cell open thus, this makes the stem of Young Herbaceous Plant to stand upright since they absorb a lot of water on a daily basis.
